A full array of golf instruction options is available to members and their families throughout the year. Our teaching staff is available for lessons Tuesday through Sunday each week. Private lessons, group lessons and lessons for junior players are an integral part of the overall golf instruction program at The Windermere Club. The club also schedules several complimentary beginners golf clinics during the course of the year.

Bill Chandler
Head Golf Professional

Bill Chandler is the Head Golf Professional at the Windermere Club, and has been a golf professional since 1983. He has worked everywhere from Hilton Head to Virginia before he settled down in Columbia. Bill was nominated for “Teacher of the Year” in the Georgia PGA Section, in addition to being nominated for “Teacher of the Year” in the Mid-Atlantic Section.

While teaching golf in Virginia, he also served as the Teaching Publisher for “Tee Time Golf Magazine.” He also received the honor of "Merchandiser and Marketing Professional of the Year" in the Mid- Atlantic. While Bill was working at the Atlanta Country Club, the club’s Pro Shop was voted as one of the top 50 Pro Shops. Also during Bill’s tenure, Moss Creek Plantation in Hilton Head was nominated for the "Best Golf Shop in the Carolinas" Section.

Teaching Philosophy:

I have taught hundreds of golf lessons over the years since 1983. My teaching philosophy is very simple. Set goals with your student, and then give the student "little bits of information" at a time so that he/she can remember and repeat. Too much information at one time can be frustrating for any level of player. As goals are accomplished, the player will not only score better, but they will enjoy the game. Golf is a game of a lifetime, and if my students are good to the game, then the game will be good to them.

Mike Castelluzzi
Teaching Professional

Mike has been a PGA member for over 30 years and has instructed golfers across the United States, the Virgin Islands, and South America. From the beginner to the tour professional, Mike has designed and developed teaching programs for the full spectrum of golfers. After spending more than eight years as a teaching professional with David Leadbetter, Mike moved to South Carolina in 1991. He served as Head Golf Professional and Director of Golf at The Cliffs Communities in the Upstate.

Since moving to Columbia to be the Head Golf Professional at the Windermere Club in 2001, he is currently using his experience and talents to tailor lesson programs to golfers of all ages and abilities. Mike instructs many of the top juniors in the state, some of which are nationally ranked. Collegiate golfers, corporate executives, and seniors all seek Mike’s innovative methods to improve their technique.
